Dear CCSD 46 Community,

COVID Dashboard
I am pleased to share a new resource that is now available on the main page of our website. On the right hand side, under Important School Dates, Events, and Information, you will find a link to our COVID Dashboard. This document is intended to share information about confirmed Positive COVID Cases and Close Contact Cases for Hybrid students and staff. The document will be updated weekly.

Student Symptoms
Parents and Guardians of Hybrid students, please remember that a child who has a Covid-like symptom cannot be in school. Here is the current list from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH): Fever (100.4°F or higher), new onset of moderate to severe headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain from unknown cause, new congestion/runny nose, new loss of sense of taste or smell, nausea, fatigue from unknown cause, muscle or body aches. If a student has any of these symptoms, the child will be sent home. Also, siblings of students with symptoms are considered Close Contacts, and also must be kept home, or will be sent home if a symptom develops in a sibling during the school day.

We understand how stressful it can be to receive a call from school that a child must come home. I know how difficult it was to receive those calls when my daughters were young, and I note that my experiences were not during these heightened, unbearably stressful Covid-times! Even though it is stressful to receive the call, parents and guardians are asked to treat the health clerk, nurse, school secretary, or principal who calls you with kindness and respect. The caller is simply following through on the agreements that we have already made with families who have chosen Hybrid learning. We are all doing our best to keep our school communities healthy and safe.

Food Donation Drive
Thank you to the Community Engagement Committee for putting together a district wide collection for the Avon Cares Food Pantry! Please see this flyer for more information. Note that food will be collected on Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th, which is the last weekend of Spring Break.

Ongoing Planning for 2021-2022
With vaccines well underway in our country and community, we continue to be hopeful that we will be able to offer onsite school 5 days a week in the fall. Although we are unable to make a firm commitment to that programming at this time due to a variety of unknowns, please understand that full onsite school for those who want it is our intent.

One of the unknowns is how many of our families will want to remain in a remote program if one is offered. Please be on the lookout for a survey about this soon.

Foundation46
Each year, Foundation46 selects worthy recipients for their Commitment to Education Award. I am so pleased to share this short “announcement” video with you! (Spoiler Alert: It takes a Village!) Thank you, Foundation46 -- what a lovely, inclusive idea!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lynn Glickman

Mensaje del superintendente

Marzo 4, 2021

Estimada comunidad CCSD 46,

Tablero COVID

Gracias, Foundation46 --¡qué idea tan encantadora e integradora!

Atentamente,

Dra. Lynn Glickman
