April 16, 2021

Dear CCSD 46 Community,

I hope that it has been a good week for all! I was thrilled to be able to be at all schools on Monday when our new onsite program began. There were so many smiling faces both in classrooms and on screens, and it was wonderful to see students help each other out with revised procedures. A special note to the young lady who asked me, “Since you are a doctor, can you please make a vaccine for kids?” Oh, friend, I sure do wish that I could do that!

Also, I wish to note that the incredibly hard work that has been taken on with such success by our instructional staff would not be possible without the “back of the house” efforts of our office staff, health staff, custodians/maintenance staff, and administrators. As well, our carefully created new system would not be able to function without the partnership of our families. One of the lessons of this past year is what it means to be part of an interdependent system. I know that we are all grateful for each other!

Lots of news this week!

Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year

Families of students continuing their CCSD 46 education should complete the required registration forms no later than July 15, 2021. Please be sure to add any new to the district students in your existing household parent portal.

We recognize that with so many twists and turns to programming over the past year and a half, families are eager for more information about the upcoming school year. We expect more guidance from ISBE this spring, which will help us further develop those plans. At this time, we can share the following with you:

  • We are planning for a full onsite program.
  • We do not yet know if there will be a remote option for students. More information to come on this.
  • Kindergarten will return to a full day program.
  • Students in the Early Childhood program will return to a four day per week half day program and students in the Preschool For All program will return to a five day per week half day program.
We will share specific plans regarding 21-22 as soon as possible.

New COVID-19 Vaccination Site in Round Lake Beach
The Lake County Health Department and partners Baxter and Curative are pleased to announce the opening of a new COVID-19 vaccination site on April 20, 2021, in Round Lake Beach, Illinois. The new site, located at 400 E Rollins Rd (the former K-Mart Supercenter) will offer indoor COVID-19 vaccinations by appointment to all who live or work in Lake County, Illinois, ages 16 and older, at no cost. When vaccine supply allows the facility to reach its peak capacity of 5,000 vaccinations per day, this will be the largest vaccination site in the county.

Vaccinations will be offered by appointment only, Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents may schedule appointments at cur.tv/lakeco. People who are registered in AllVax, Lake County’s COVID-19 vaccination portal, and opted in to share their registration information with vaccination partners, may also be contacted by Curative to schedule an appointment at the Round Lake Beach site.

Any questions about the Round Lake Beach vaccination site can be emailed to support@curative.com.

Mensaje del superintendente

Abril 16, 2021

Estimada comunidad CCSD 46,
