Dear CCSD 46 Community,

At last night’s Board of Education meeting, the Board decided to delay the start of Hybrid Learning to February 16th, three weeks later than the January 25th date that was last shared. This decision was made to allow school staff to have their first doses of the vaccine prior to the start of Hybrid Learning, as we expect our staff members to be able to receive their first doses in early February. Please note the Board of Education directed that Hybrid Learning will begin on February 16th even if vaccine availability is pushed back for some reason.

There was also discussion regarding the phased rollout of Hybrid Learning, which when last shared spanned three weeks. At this time, no decision has been made if the phases may be shortened, as follow up discussion within the school district has not yet occurred since last night. We will share more information as soon as possible.

Due to the delay of the start of Hybrid Learning, we will not have a Remote Learning Planning Day next Tuesday, January 19th. Tuesday will be a regular day of instruction for students. Please remember that Monday, January 18th is still a day off of school due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Finally, I am sharing some opportunities for community members to support our schools through employment and/or volunteer work:

  • Our food service team, Arbor Management, is looking for employees. Please see this flyer.

  • We have several open positions in the district, including a Health Clerk opening at Park Campus, and Program Assistant positions throughout the district. Please view more information here. We are also seeking substitute teachers. Information can be found here.

  • Lake County Health Department is seeking health staff to volunteer to assist with giving vaccines. Specifically, they are looking for doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists who can give ongoing commitments. If you might be interested, please email HLHealthEM@lakecountyil.gov for more information. Also, please do spread the word! This would be a wonderful way to support schools and the entire community!
The news of the change in the start date for Hybrid Learning will impact each family, child, and staff member differently. In times like this, I always look for common interests. In this case, I believe that a common interest is clear: we all eagerly anticipate seeing students’ shining faces back in school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lynn Glickman
Superintendent

Mensaje del superintendente

Enero 14, 2021

Estimada comunidad CCSD 46,

Atentamente,

Dra. Lynn Glickman
