Winter Break
Just a reminder that school is in session on Friday, December 21. There is a full day of school with normal dismissal times. There will be no school from December 24 - Jan 4, 2013 for Winter Break.

District Boundary Maps
CCSD 46 has created a combined boundary map displaying both the District 46 boundary and the High School District 127 boundary areas. There was some confusion over the differences in boundary areas at the Town Hall Meeting on December 11th. This map was created using the Lake County legal descriptions of the two district boundary areas. Download map.

Board of Education Simultaneous Filing Notice
All nomination papers filed in person at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, or received by mail on Monday, December 17, 2012, shall be considered simultaneously filed.
Community Consolidated School District 46 will hold a lottery for all simultaneously filed petitions on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. at 565 Frederick Rd., Grayslake, IL. Candidates who filed simultaneously are welcome to be present for the lottery drawing. Please download the Notice.

Board of Education Candidate Petition Filings
Individuals interested in running for the Community Consolidated School District 46 Board of Education may pick up candidate nominating packets from the District Office of CCSD 46 from 7:30AM-4:00PM. Candidates shall file their petitions for nomination and other required documents beginning December 17, 2012. Last day to file is December 26th at 5:00PM. Please see Karen Senase at the District Office during regular business hours. The District Office is located at 565 Frederick Road, Grayslake, IL. Please download the Notice.

Town Hall Meetings
CCSD 46 is presenting two "Town Hall Meetings" to take place in December and January. The first meeting, held December 11, 2012 at 6:30PM, will focus on the District's financial situation, including the impact of the potential teachers' strike. A second meeting will take place on January 9, 2013 at 6:00PM with the Board of Education general meeting taking place immediately afterwards. Both meetings will be held at the Grayslake Middle School.

Notice: PowerSchool Server
We spoke a bit prematurely on our PowerSchool server being back up. We are having issues with one component of PowerSchool which is causing the program to not function properly. We are continuing to work on the issue. Will post an update when we think it is back up again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Congratulations to Avon School's Barb Zarras

Vision and Hearing Screenings
Children in preschool, kindergarten, first, second, third, and special education will receive a hearing screening. Children in preschool, second, eighth, and special education will receive a vision screening. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo a vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months. If applicable please provide your school with a copy of your child's eye examination. Please visit the health webpage for testing schedule and more information.

Meadowview & Woodview School Closing 9/5/12
Due to the high heat and humidity expected for Wednesday, September 5th, Meadowview and Woodview Schools will be closed for student attendance. For more information, download the Superintendent's Letter.

Preschool screenings will be held on August 31, September 7, October 12, November 9, December 7, January 11 and February 22. Please call 847-543-6204 between the hours of 8:30-3:00 Monday through Friday to schedule an appointment. For more information, visit the Early Childhood webpage.

5th Grade Kick Off Camp
Frederick School is hosting a Kick Off Camp for incoming 5th graders on August 6-9, 2012 from 9:00AM-12:15PM. Registration ends July 30th - all registration forms should be dropped off at Frederick School.
