Dear Band Parents,
It has been a great year. Students in both bands have greatly improved. Wednesday night was a great concert! First the beginners did a great job playing Quantum Mission. Second, it isn't every night that a band plays so well that Batman is compelled to appear. To all the Cadets. we wish them the best as they continue on their musical journey at GMS. Here are some important items to remember.
Cadets:
Jazz band auditions are here at Frederick on Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday June 3rd from 9-11. Please check your times again.
Any Cadets who are not continuing band at GMS must fill out the drop form available here in the band office and follow the instructions on the back of the form for returning the instrument.
Beginners:
Beginners, we are doing secondary instrument try outs next week. See Mr. Rivera or Mr. Mulder to sign up for a try out if you are interested.
Clarinets can try out bass clarinet
Alto Saxes can try out tenor or bari sax
Trumpets can try out French Horn
Any instrument can try out Tuba.
Make sure you turn in the back sheet (both sides) of the band handbook to register for Cadet Band next year. If your child is not continuing band next year, you must fill out a drop form and complete the checklist on the back side in order to return the instrument. Download the handbook and registration sheet for those who wish to continue next year (6th grade).
This summer we are offering a four-week long summer band program for the entire district. This is an excellent opportunity to have your child continue practicing his/her instrument and prepare for the challenges of a new grade level.
The program will be held at Frederick School. Mr. Rivera and Mrs. Ames will be the directors running the program from June 14-July 9. The program is for incoming 6-7-8 grade students who have already had one year of band. Click to download additional information and registration form for this program.
