Several "suspected" cases of H1N1 flu have been reported in District 46. As a district, we are taking precautions recommended by the CDC and the Lake County Health Department. In order to help prevent the spread of this illness to other students and staff, we ask that all parents and guardians:
- Keep sick children at home
- Be prepared to make alternate childcare arrangements
- Make sure your child’s school has a current daytime phone contact
- Include your child’s symptoms when reporting student absences
Symptoms of the flu are:
- Fever above 100 degrees
- Body aches
- Chronic coughing
Children may return to school when they are "fever free" for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducers such as Tylenol and Motrin, and, their cough has subsided.
To ensure we are providing a safe and healthy environment for all of our children and staff, we are working closely with the Lake County Health Department and will continue to monitor the flu situation as the season progresses.
Sincerely,
Ellen Correll, Superintendent
